Custom Orthotics

Orthotics Designed Just for You

Custom Orthotics in Coquitlam to relieve pain, improve comfort, and move with confidence.

What are Custom Orthotics

Custom foot orthotics are prescription-made insoles designed to fit comfortably inside your shoes and support your unique feet. At our Coquitlam clinic, each pair is created after a thorough assessment by a registered physiotherapist, using advanced technology to ensure a perfect fit. These orthotics help improve foot function by promoting proper alignment, correcting or accommodating structural issues, and reducing strain on muscles and joints. They can also help prevent future problems, all while fitting discreetly into your everyday footwear.

Conditions Custom Orthotics Can Help with

Flat feet / Fallen arches

What it is: A condition where the arches of the feet collapse or are very low, causing the entire sole to touch the ground.

Symptoms: Foot fatigue, overpronation, and pain in the ankles, knees, or back.

Orthotics help by: Supporting the arch, improving alignment, and reducing overpronation.

Plantar Fasciitis

What it is: Inflammation or small tears in the plantar fascia — the band of tissue connecting your heel bone to the base of your toes.

Symptoms: Sharp heel pain, especially during the first steps in the morning or after periods of rest.

Orthotics help by: Providing arch support and cushioning to relieve pressure and reduce strain on the plantar fascia.

Heel Pain

What it is: Pain located under or behind the heel, often caused by plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, or thinning of the heel’s natural fat pad.

Symptoms: Tenderness or aching in the heel, especially after prolonged walking or standing.

Orthotics help by: Providing shock absorption and redistributing pressure to reduce discomfort.

Knee Pain

What it is: Discomfort in or around the knee joint, often caused by misalignment, overuse, or compensatory stress from flat feet.

Symptoms: Pain when climbing stairs, squatting, or walking long distances.

Orthotics help by: Correcting lower limb mechanics and reducing abnormal stress on the knee.

Bunions (Hallux Valgus)

What it is: A bony bump that forms on the joint at the base of the big toe, often causing the toe to angle inward.

Symptoms: Pain, swelling, and difficulty wearing certain types of shoes.

Orthotics help by: Reducing pressure on the bunion and supporting proper toe alignment.

Lower Back Pain

What it is: Pain in the lower back (lumbar region), often caused or worsened by abnormal gait patterns or poor foot alignment.

Symptoms: Dull or sharp pain in the lower back, often increasing after prolonged standing or walking.

Orthotics help by: Improving posture and reducing compensatory stress from foot misalignment.

Our Process

Creating custom orthotics is a personalized and precise journey. We begin with a detailed assessment to understand your foot mechanics, posture, and any pain or mobility concerns. Using advanced 3D scanning technology, we capture exact measurements of your feet to ensure an optimal fit. Your orthotics are then custom fabricated based on your unique needs, using high-quality materials for lasting support. Once complete, we provide a professional fitting and guide you through proper use to help you move more comfortably and confidently.

1. Biomechanical and Foot Assessment

We begin with a thorough assessment of your feet, posture, and gait to understand your biomechanics and any issues contributing to pain or misalignment.

2. 3D Foot Scanning

Next, we use advanced 3D scanning technology to capture accurate measurements of your feet, ensuring a precise and tailored fit.

3. Custom Fabrication

Based on your unique scan and clinical needs, we design and fabricate your orthotics using high-quality materials to support proper alignment and relieve pressure points.

4. Fitting

Once your orthotics are ready, we fit them to your footwear and guide you on proper use, ensuring comfort and effectiveness.

Custom orthotics are $475, which includes full custom fabrication based on your 3D scan and clinical assessment. The initial biomechanical and foot assessment is $120, performed by a qualified practitioner to evaluate your posture, gait, and foot biomechanics.

Many extended health insurance plans do cover custom orthotics, including the assessment and the orthotics themselves. However, every insurance policy is different, so we recommend reaching out to your provider directly to confirm your coverage and any specific requirements.

We offer direct billing for the biomechanical and foot assessment to most major extended health insurance providers. However, the cost of the custom orthotics themselves typically must be submitted manually by the patient, as most insurers require the claim to be submitted with specific documentation. To make this process easier, we provide all the necessary paperwork, including a detailed receipt, proof of manufacturing, and a description of how the orthotics were prescribed and acquired. We recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm your plan’s requirements for reimbursement.
